GOP Sen. John Ensign To Resign

Last month beleaguered GOP Sen. John Ensign announced that he wouldn't seek reelection in 2012. But today his aides revealed that Ensign will resign tomorrow.
Ensign has fallen under investigation by the ethics committee in the wake of an alleged sexual relationship with an aide and accusations that he steered business to her lobbyist husband. His departure could clear the way for Nevada's Republican governor to appoint Rep. Dean Heller (R) to the seat, giving the GOP an incumbent in 2012.

Catholic League Publishes Full-Page Anti-Gay New York Times Ad

The Catholic League today published a full-page ad in the New York Times in which blowhard Bill Donohue blames the church's pedophilia scandals on homosexuality. An excerpt:
The refrain that child rape is a reality in the Church is twice wrong: let’s get it straight—they weren’t children and they weren’t raped. We know from the John Jay study that most of the victims have been adolescents, and that the most common abuse has been inappropriate touching (inexcusable though this is, it is not rape). The Boston Globe correctly said of the John Jay report that “more than three-quarters of the victims were post pubescent, meaning the abuse did not meet the clinical definition of pedophilia.” In other words, the issue is homosexuality, not pedophilia.

When the National Review Board, a group of notable Catholics, issued its study in 2004, the team’s chief, attorney Robert S. Bennett, said that “any evaluation of the causes and context of the current crisis must be cognizant of the fact that more than 80 percent of the abuse at issue was of a homosexual nature.” One of the members, Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins, has said that “This behavior was homosexual predation on American Catholic youth, yet it’s not being discussed.” By the way, the figures after 2004 haven’t changed—eight in ten cases involve homosexuality. Worldwide, the Vatican estimates that 60 percent of the cases are same-sex, 30 percent are heterosexual and 10 percent involve pedophilia.

Tweet of The Day - Mister Cee

Hot 97 radio personality Mister Cee (real name Calvin Labrun) is denying police claims that he was found getting a public blowjob from another man.
The 44-year-old Labrun—who was a producer on BIG's debut album Ready to Die and who has a Tropical Fantasy flavor named after him—was found by police around 3:55 a.m. in a car with 20-year-old Lawrence Campbell, who appeared to be servicing him. This was not the first bust for the "Throwback at Noon" host, he reportedly was arrested in lower Manhattan last October 8 and November 20 while loitering for the purpose of prostitution (soliciting, we are assuming). In his October arrests Mister Cee plead guilty to disorderly conduct, while his November arrest's charges appear to have been dropped. Campbell does not appear to have a criminal history.
Hip-hop fan blogs have gone crazy with both denials and condemnations. The arrest has also become a top trending topic on Twitter.

Lindsay Lohan...court documents sealed! Wheels of Justice turn slowly!

Lindsay Lohan trotted into court bright-and-early this morning to face the music, but - if anything - ended up participating in a hearing that amounted to little more than a brief intro of bigger things to come.

In fact, judging by the proceedings that took place in a Los Angeles courtroom today - and in view of all the ifs, ands or buts - it is fairly obvious at this juncture that the court-room drama is not going to be an open-and-shut case for either side.

For example, at one point, Lohan's attorney quizzed the Judge about one issue when she appeared to be perplexed by a ruling.

"Your honor, you said my motion was partly denied. Does that mean that it was partly granted?"

"Yes," the seasoned bench-warmer responded in the affirmative without hesitation.

Then, the hearing got curiouser and curiouser.

A court date was set for March 25th, for instance, but - whether the parties show up or not - depends on Lindsay's decision to accept or reject a plea offer.

Uh-huh!

Armchair viewers at home - without a law degree under the belt - may have trouble fathoming the particulars on television (unless they're fans of "Law & Order" or "Perry Mason").

Then, the Judge expressed his frustration over leaks in the legal proceedings - that have been baffling Los Angeles Superior Court officials in recent weeks - and running interference with his directives.

To help combat the dilemma, His Honor requested that Lohan's attorney submit all documentary evidence and legal briefs under seal - "for his eyes only"- in the future.

Golly, the details surrounding this felony charge are turning out to be intriguing top-secret-stuff!

Bottom line, it was gut-wrenching for folks seeking closure for Lindsay Lohan.

An outcome appears to be far off on the horizon down a long-and-winding bumpy road!

Charlie Sheen...drunk or suffering adverse drug reaction? Hotel trashed!

Charlie in less-complicated days!

Depending on which news report you catch on the wire or over the Internet, Charlie Sheen was hospitalized earlier today in New York City, due to either an unfortunate adverse drug reaction - or, dramatic drum roll, please - due to excessive binge drinking that left the TV comedy star incoherent.

As tawdry details about the shocking incident filtered out from the Plaza Hotel, and the local Police, tabloid shows and gossips alike were inclined to titter that Sheen fell down and went boom in a big way in the big apple.

New York newsies reported Sheen was spied with an unidentified woman and found drunk and naked in a trashed hotel room after a night of wild partying.

Though rowdy, the sexy romp remained violence-free throughout the festive night at the Plaza Hotel,, until Mr. Sheen allegedly discovered that his wallet was missing.

At this point, all hell broke out.

When Police responded to a call from hotel staff - the  "Two and a Half Men" star - was intoxicated and incoherent.

According to the men-in-blue, Sheen voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital without resistance.

Sheen's publicist - Stan Rosenfield - asserted in a terse prepared statement earlier today that the actor had simply reacted badly to an unspecified medication.

"What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse allergic reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to be released tomorrow," Rosenfield summed  up on a positive note.

No arrests were made and no criminal charges are expected.
