Lingerie and Sportswear pavilions make debut at BIFF&BIL

In keeping with its refreshed look, the over two-decade mega fashion event in Thailand, the Bangkok International Fashion Fair and the Bangkok International Leather Fair, will be introducing two new pavilions dedicated solely to lingerie and sportswear within its ‘Apparels Fair’ this year.

With 36 exhibitors in the Sportswear Pavilion, buyers and fashion professionals from overseas will be able to get a preview of the Spring/Summer 2012 - 13 sportswear collections from leading local manufacturers such as Hi-Tech Apparel Co., Ltd., Hong Seng Knitting Co., Ltd., Liberty Garment Co., Ltd., Nan Yang Garment Co.., Ltd., Nice Group Holding Corp., Ltd., Oriental Garment Co., Ltd., Thong Thai Textile Co., Ltd. and VT Garment Co., Ltd.

Sportswear manufacturers in Thailand are now using some of the latest technology in both production and fabrics such as ‘ultra sonic’ and ‘welding‘ manufacturing techniques and functional fabrics that provide UV protection and good ventilation. As a result, they have gained international recognition and trust from several European league football teams from the UK, Italy and Spain as well as the J League of Japan to produce their official shorts and jerseys. Production of sportswear has great growth potential as it is categorized as a technical product, requiring specialized know-how.

Meanwhile, the Lingerie Pavilion will add a considerable dose of glamour and ‘sexiness’ to BIFF&BIL 2011. Consisting of 30 exhibitors, visitors to the Pavilion will have the opportunity to see not only licensed men’s and women’s products of international brands, but also inspiring lingerie and sleepwear designs of homegrown brands such as Annebra, BSC, Jintana, J Press, Kullastri, Kyra, Sabina and 3 Angels, to name but a few.

Perfect Piece of Lingerie

Lingerie is not only a simple piece of underwear that you wear beneath your outfit but it exceeds this by far. The right piece of lingerie can boost your self confidence and rectify any flaws you feel toward your body. Simply, the right piece of sexy lingerie can make you feel that you are the sexiest woman on earth and help you enjoy your intimate life with your partner.

Choosing the right piece of lingerie for your body depends on several factors. The first factor is your body size. Every body size has its own choices from sexy lingerie to make it look beautiful and charming. For example, if you have a petite body then, you need to choose the lingerie piece that increases the size of certain regions of your body.

A bustier or a wire framed bra can help to boost the size of your breasts and gives them desirable extra volume. In the same time, a wire framed bra is not suitable for a woman with an extra large breast unless she wants an extreme look of a sex goddess!! If you are a plus size then you should choose something that sculptures your body and gives you a thinner look. Sexy lingerie that is draping on your body and those made of opaque materials are the best for you.

They will give you the sexy look you are looking for and in the same time they will not reveal the real size of your body. Some plus size women are reluctant to wear sexy lingerie because they think that it will not suite them but, if you choose the right lingerie for your body type then you will get the look you want.

Choosing the fabric is very important too because it help delivering the sexy appearance and slims down your body. Leather sexy lingerie is suitable for small sizes because it fits snuggly around the body and shows the beautiful body you have while lace tied lingerie and corsets are more suitable for larger sizes because they slim down your body and cleave your waist region to give you an adorable look.

Designer Lingerie : Tips For Choosing and Cleaning

Designer lingerie are lingerie produced by top designers. They cost a lot more than other lingerie sold in the market. This is for the reason that they are made with material of good quality. Also, the fact that they are made by designers with popular names in the fashion industry means that they can

Designer lingerie and your attributes

Most designer lingerie have such a good design that they have a way of flattering your figure. However, in most cases, it's a matter of choosing those which match well with your own attributes. For example, in choosing the color of your bras and other designer lingerie, you don't have to always base it on the tone of your skin. Instead, you can use your hair color as a determining factor of the designer lingerie's color. If your hair is brunette, consider wearing earth tones or strong colors. If red is the color of your hair, choosing either earth tones or sassy colors is advisable. Lastly, if you're blonde, then it's best to consider donning pastel colors for your designer lingerie.

Cleaning tips

Since most designer lingerie are made of quality material, they typically last longer than other lingerie. That is not to say that you must not take into account proper maintenance. In fact, most designer lingerie have delicate material which can't be cleaned or maintained by just any kind of detergent. That’s why it’s always best to refer to manufacturer’s instructions for safe maintenance.

When cleaning designer lingerie made of cotton, you don’t have to worry about their durability. They can usually be washed using a washing machine. However, the difficulty lies in the drying. Most cotton designer lingerie expand horizontally and/or shrink vertically after subjecting them to heat in the dryer.

If your designer lingerie is made of silk, you only have two options. One is to wash them by hand and two is to send them to the dry cleaner. If you opt to do the first process, make sure that you use mild laundry soap. Do not rub them too much as this can effect damage on them. Use lukewarm water when rinsing them. Instead of drying them with a dryer, use towels to twist dry them. After this, you can use iron to dry them while they’re still damp.

Wildcat print strikes at Wickedelic Lingerie

They do claim that a wild cat the size of a Puma stalks the hinterland of Dartmoor with many a sighting of oversized black felines reported in the area - usually late on a Saturday night.

But at the Wickedelic Lingerie warehouse, perched on the very edge of Dartmoor, they find themselves under siege from a wide variety of wild creatures.

Of course, this leading online and mail order supplier of erotic lingerie has nothing to do with real wild animals, nor has there been a mass breakout from Paignton Zoo or Dartmoor Wildlife Park but rather it now offers a wide range of this seasons must have look – animal print effect lingerie.

Nick Gibbens, PR and Online Sales Manager at Wickedelic Lingerie, explains: “Our shelves are full of slips, stockings, tights, leggings, thongs, knickers, chemises, bras in a wide variety of animal print material. Especially popular are Tiger and Leopard effects in a variety of colours and materials.”

Wickedelic Lingerie proudly insists that no actual wild animals were hurt in the making of their highly fashionable garments - as Nick explains. “Here at Wickedelic Lingerie we can safely say that you can wear our beautifully made Leopard and Tiger print, sexy lingerie with a totally clear conscience.

Lectra, the world leader in integrated technology solutions dedicated to the fashion industry, is pleased to announce that Van de Velde, specialist in luxury lingerie, has acquired the VectorLingerieMX to optimize its production.

Established in 1919, Van de Velde designs and manufactures luxurious women’s lingerie under the brand names Marie Jo, Marie Jo L'Aventure and PrimaDonna with impeccable product quality as their main objective.

In line with this philosophy, core activities such as design, product development, prototyping, fabric cutting, and quality control are performed at the company’s headquarters in Schellebelle, Belgium.

Guided by the desire to satisfy their very demanding clientele of around 5 000 people worldwide, the company presents 300 new models and ships more than five million finished articles per year.

Van de Velde: stringent specifications
With a view to guaranteeing permanent quality products, whilst at the same time increasing productivity, Van de Velde carried out a study of the different options available on the market.

One of the biggest challenges faced by the company is to ensure the highest possible cutting quality for all the components that are used to make their products.

Lingerie articles contain many components, which are often small and intricately shaped, and the slightest fault in cutting complicates the whole system, and may lead to a serious drop in product quality.

Having tested and assessed existing machines, in the end, Van de Velde settled on the Lectra VectorLingerieMX which provided the best offer in terms of quality, efficiency and productivity.

Lingerie From Then Till Now

Let's begin with the word Lingerie itself. What does it mean? Where did it come from?

The word itself is of French derivation and originally meant "linen goods". The actual word can be traced back in history as coming from "linum", the word used for flax.

Now "linen goods" does not bring to mind any images of the scantily clad women we see today so it seems as if it went through some kind of transition. In 18th and 19th century England, it was considered improper for a woman to openly refer to her underwear in normal conversation and polite euphemisms were used instead.

The French of the time simply referred to "women's underwear" with the French word lingerie as a substitute for that which you did not openly discuss. Lingerie of the time had the sole purpose of absorbing sweat and other body fluids in an attempt to preserve the much more expensive outer wear. The clothes of the day were not mass produced in China; they were mostly handmade to order by a family member or a professional seamstress etc. The point being, outer wear was considered expensive, hard to come by, and therefore had to be looked after and kept clean. Underwear was therefore made of cheap linen which could be washed often and replaced much more easily and affordably.

So how did the French word lingerie find its way into the English language? Corsets were already in use by Victorian women during this time but they used the word 'corset' as is. The corset is therefore not responsible for popularizing the word lingerie. It comes from another French invention called the brassiere which became known to the English and Americans during the roaring twenties, spurred on by early Hollywood films which threw a spot light on beautiful women with desirable bodies in sexy dresses. Soon everybody was talking about the gorgeous movie stars and women wanted to shape their bodies and style their hair to resemble the screen icons of the day. The brassiere became the hot item and the French became seen as the "knowledgeable source" of desirable women's underwear.

The brassiere was originally designed only to support the breasts but its versatility was quickly recognized and over a relatively short time its use branched out to cover the many needs of the day. The question for women was; what did you want to do with your breasts? Just provide support, support and lift etc. The versatile brassiere could be designed to fit any need. Styles changed from flat to pointy to naturally rounded. Men took notice. Women noticed that men were interested which just fueled the fire.

Stockings, suspenders and brassiere became collectively referred to using the French word "lingerie" because it sounded more exotic and mysterious than any wording the English speaking marketing people could come up with. Thus the word lingerie became popular and ingrained as the term used to describe "special women underwear" as being something different to functional women underwear.

Shaping peoples' bodies to emphasize certain features is hardly a new idea. Paintings from Crete (ancient Greece) depict Minoan women wearing a type of corset to slim the waist and push out the breasts to make a feature of them.

This is typical of the changing and different viewpoints among various cultures and times. Most of today's men would love to bring back the Minoan dress code for women. Their culture did also have its advantages. Women were treated as equals and garnered as much respect from men as they did admiration.

Learn About Your Lingerie

Today women who want both comfortable and exclusive lingerie don't find their size and good fitting. The different distribution channels propose only standardized lingerie and none tailor made. Women want to be sure about the right sizes, and perfect fittings. This article talks about the various aspects of Fabrics used for lingerie and different shapes of lingerie to gracefully present the women's body.

Fabrics used for lingerie

Lace

Lace is a lightweight, openwork fabric, patterned with open holes in the work, made by machine or by hand. Lace-making is an ancient craft. True lace was not made until the late 15th and early 16th centuries. A true lace is created when a thread is looped, twisted or braided to other threads independently from a backing fabric.

Originally linen, silk, gold, or silver threads were used. Now lace is often made with cotton thread. Manufactured lace may be made of synthetic fiber. A few modern artists make lace with a fine copper or silver wire instead of thread.

There are many types of lace, defined by how they are made. These include:

Needle lace: made using a needle and thread. This is the most flexible of the lace-making arts.

Cutwork, or white work; lace constructed by removing threads from a woven background, and the remaining threads wrapped or filled with embroidery.

Bobbin Lace: as the name suggests, made with bobbins and a pillow.

Tape lace: makes the tape in the lace as it is worked, or uses a machine- or hand-made textile strip formed into a design, then joined and embellished with needle or bobbin lace.

Knotted lace: including Macram and Tatting.

Crocheted lace: including Irish crochet, pineapple crochet, and filet crochet.

Knitted lace: including Shetland lace, such as the "wedding ring shawl", a lace shawl so fine that it can be pulled through a wedding ring.

Machine-made: any style of lace created or replicated using mechanical means. The machine is used to tie up the 'M' point together.

Muslin

Muslin is most typically a closely-woven unbleached or white cloth, produced from corded cotton yarn. Wide muslin is called "sheeting". It is often used to make dresses or curtains but may also be used to complement foam for bench padding. Muslin breathes well, and is a good choice of material for clothing meant for hot, dry climates.

Lingerie-Not Just Another French Term

Originally as in its French roots, Lingerie applies as the categorized term for stylish undergarments for both sexes. Along the time, the term had though evolved into being specifically associated with women's intimate wear. But today again, mens lingerie holds a significant identity as well. Stylish and appealing women's undergarments, popular as lingerie, are designed to be visually attractive and titillating.

Lingerie is not just another French term, but beyond that. The term is atypically pronounced with a faux French articulation as either lonj-er-ee (British) or lonj-er-ay (American). Not a difficult task to rightly pronounce it. Women have worn everything starting from a whalebone contraption with pulleys, to'near nothing' light and silky clothing as intimate wears.

Typically absorbing materials such as Lycra, nylon (nylon tricot), polyester, satin, lace and/or silk, and not applied to functional cotton undergarments, female lingerie are indeed the most alluring pieces having the attention of seasoned designers. The concept of lingerie being visually appealing was a development of the later nineteenth century. And since then, the lingerie industry has seen immense growth, owing to their increasing attractiveness and female infatuation for innerwear fashion.

Predominant Brands and Trends

Global lingerie market is estimated to be around $30 billion USD, with a projected growth rate of 9% over the next five years. Appeal for lingerie has undergone drastic changes during the past years. Now market is driven by brands that come up with innovative products. Renowned brands such as Calvin Klein, Lejaby, Rosy, Lise Carmel, and Victorias Secrets also dominate the international lingerie market. Designers focus more on creating new patterns with sumptuous lacy bits, satin pieces, enticing teddies, and skimpy thongs. Today besides everything else, the innerwear is in fact also endured as an outerwear. "Show it off" - is the philosophy and designers herald the same by offering lingerie designs that categorize it as a fashion accomplice with straps and lace trim which are deliberately layered and exposed as a slice of the outerwear.

Bikini Clad Server’s At Your Service! ! ! !

An entrepreneurial business man has hired beauty pageant veterans to serve in his restaurant. wearing nothing but bikinis.

Meet America’s hardest-working beauty queens - Middle American pageant veterans living in New York City rent free in exchange for hustling cocktails in their bikinis at a Times Square hot spot.

For the young beauties, it’s a shot at becoming a top model.

For the customers, it’s wall-to-wall lovelies who can juggle drinks and dinner orders while looking gorgeous.

Owners of the Hawaiian Tropic Zone, an 800-person-capacity restaurant that just opened on 49th Street, recruited ambitious women from pageant competitions across America as its first wave of bikini-clad employees. Those women have since been joined by 82 local waitresses.

The out-of-towners live in a dorm-like apartment on the Upper East Side - it’s "The Real World" meets "Gidget."

The models live with eight other recruits in two three-bedroom pads in an eight-story walkup on the Upper East Side owned by Dennis Riese, who owns the Hawaiian Tropic Zone with PM nightclub honcho Adam Hock.

Under the terms of their Hawaiian Tropic Zone deals, the models live rent free for six months, pay $200 for the seventh month, $400 the eighth and $600 a month until they leave. They also get discounted gym memberships and tanning, because they’re required to take part in both.

In return, they weave in and out between crowded tables as waitresses for the restaurant, welcoming guests, serving drinks and taking dinner orders while wearing Nicole Miller bikinis.

Every night is a beauty pageant. The waitresses strut their stuff twice a shift in front of the usual crowd of suit-clad bankers and brokers who quiet down and cast their paper ballots for the hottie they most admire.

The pageant winner gets a $100 bonus on top of $100 for each eight-hour shift and tips as high as $100 per table.
